Privacy Policy for Astrophotography Planner
Last Updated: June 2026
Overview
Astrophotography Planner ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our deep-sky imaging assistant for planning observing sessions, tracking gear, simulating fields of view, and logging imaging sessions.
Data We Collect
Locally on your device only:
- Observing site profiles you create (name, latitude, longitude, elevation, Bortle class, notes)
- Imaging gear records (scope, camera, focal length, aperture, sensor specs, mount info)
- Session logs (date, target, weather, seeing, transparency, notes)
- Frame records (light/dark/flat/bias counts, exposure, ISO/gain)
- Pre-session checklist state
- Last-used location for weather lookups
- App preferences (theme, premium status)
We do not upload, transmit, or store any of your sites, gear, sessions, frames, or checklist data on any server.
Permissions We Request
- Internet: Required to (a) display ads on the free tier, (b) verify Google Play in-app purchases, and (c) fetch optional weather forecasts from Open-Meteo for sites you save.
- Location (optional): Required only if you tap "Use current location" when adding an observing site. Your coordinates never leave the device except as part of an Open-Meteo weather request that returns cloud cover, wind, and humidity for that point.
- Sensors (optional): Some tools use device tilt for compass/level features. No sensor data is transmitted.
Third-Party Services
- Google AdMob: Displays ads to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing: Processes the one-time Pro Lifetime upgrade. Purchase data is handled by Google.
- Google Play Integrity API: Verifies that the app installation is genuine to protect purchases against fraud. No personal data is collected.
- Open-Meteo (weather): Public, free weather API. The App sends only the latitude/longitude of the observing site you selected to retrieve cloud cover, wind, and humidity forecasts. See Open-Meteo Terms.
- Firebase (Google): Used only for Play Integrity verification. No identifying user data is sent.
Data Storage
All sites, gear, sessions, frames, checklist state, and preferences are stored locally on your device only using SQLite and SharedPreferences. We do not have access to your data and there is no cloud sync.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to any third party. The only data leaving your device:
- Ad interaction data (Google AdMob, free-tier users only)
- Purchase verification (Google Play Billing)
- Anonymous integrity checks (Google Play Integrity)
- Site coordinates (Open-Meteo, only when you request weather)
Children's Privacy
The App is designed for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your Rights
You can delete all app data at any time by:
- Deleting individual sites (cascades to all related sessions and frames) from the Sites screen
- Uninstalling the app (removes all local data)
- Contacting us at dev@corithmflowmatrix.com
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
