EPA 608 HVAC Master 2026 ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our EPA Section 608 Technician Certification exam preparation application.

Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information, including but not limited to:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Device identifiers (beyond what ad networks may use)
User account information (no accounts required)
Usage analytics beyond Firebase anonymous tracking

Information Stored with Firebase (Optional Cloud Sync)

If you enable cloud sync, the App stores the following data in Firebase (Google's secure cloud platform) using anonymous authentication:

Your study progress (questions answered, quiz scores)
Questions you have bookmarked
App settings (dark mode preferences)
Your selected exam category (Core, Type I, Type II, Type III)

Important:

You are identified only by an anonymous Firebase user ID
No personal information is ever collected or stored
Cloud sync is entirely optional
You can disable cloud sync at any time in Settings
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest

Information Stored Locally

The App stores the following data only on your device using Android's SharedPreferences and local database (SQLite):

Your selected exam categories (Core, Type I, Type II, Type III)
Questions you have bookmarked
Your study progress (questions answered, test results)
Flashcard study history
App settings (dark mode, notifications)
Premium purchase status (local unlock)

This local data:

Is deleted if you uninstall the app
Is not accessible to the developer unless cloud sync is enabled

Third-Party Services

Google Firebase

We use Firebase for:

Anonymous Authentication: Assigns a random user ID (no personal info required)
Cloud Firestore: Optional cloud sync of study progress
App Check: Security feature to prevent abuse

Google AdMob (Optional - Premium removes ads)

The free version displays advertisements using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use:

Device advertising identifiers
General location (city-level, not precise)
Device type and operating system
App usage for ad targeting

You can reduce ad tracking:

Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
Or purchase Premium to remove all ads

Google Play In-App Billing

If you purchase the Premium version, Google Play processes the payment. We do not have access to your payment information. Google Play's privacy policy applies.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

Firebase data encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
Firebase App Check prevents unauthorized API access
Local data protected by Android's app sandbox

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for HVAC technicians and students (typically 18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover such data, we will delete it immediately.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: View your stored data in the app's Stats and Settings screens
Delete: Uninstall the app to delete all local data. For cloud data, disable cloud sync in Settings
Opt-out: Disable cloud sync and use the app entirely offline
Remove ads: Purchase Premium to stop AdMob data collection

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
