Overview

Journeyman Electrician Master ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our electrical exam preparation and NEC calculator application.

Data Collection & Storage

Sign-In Options

The App offers two sign-in methods to accommodate different user preferences:

1. Continue as Guest (Anonymous Authentication)

• No email, name, phone number, or password required
• Firebase generates a unique anonymous User ID automatically
• This ID is used ONLY to sync your study progress across devices
• You remain completely anonymous - no personal identifiable information collected
• Default option for new users

2. Sign in with Google (Optional)

If you choose to sign in with your Google account:

• Information collected from Google: Your name, email address, and profile photo
• Why we collect this: To enable cloud sync, backup your progress, and allow account recovery
• How it's used: Your Google profile information is stored in Firebase and used ONLY to identify your account and sync data across devices
• Account linking: If you start as a guest and later sign in with Google, your progress is preserved by linking your anonymous account to your Google account
• Data sharing: Your Google profile information is NOT shared with third parties or used for marketing
• Sign out: You can sign out at any time in Settings, which removes your Google account association from the device (cloud data remains until you request deletion)

Important: Google Sign-In is OPTIONAL. You can use the full app as a guest without ever providing personal information.

Information Stored Locally

The App stores the following data only on your device using Android's SharedPreferences:

• Your study progress (questions answered, quiz results)
• Your calculator preferences (wire size, voltage settings)
• App settings (dark mode, notifications)
• Premium purchase status (local unlock)

Information Synced to Cloud (Firestore)

If you enable cloud sync, the following data is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore:

• Total questions answered
• Correct answers count
• Current and longest study streaks
• Category-specific scores (8 NEC categories)
• Mastered categories list
• Last practice date

This data is:

• Private to your anonymous account (not visible to other users or developers)
• Encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
• Used ONLY to sync progress across your devices
• Automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity

Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does NOT collect:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Location data (country-level only via Firebase Analytics)
• Camera or microphone access
• Contacts or call logs
• Device identifiers for tracking (beyond what ad networks use)
• Social media profiles

Third-Party Services

Google AdMob (Free Version Only)

The free version displays advertisements using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use:

• Device advertising identifiers
• IP address
• Ad interaction data (clicks, impressions)
• General device information (OS version, screen size)

AdMob's data collection is governed by:

• Google Privacy Policy
• Google Ads Privacy Notice

You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization

Premium users: Upgrading to Premium removes all ads and eliminates AdMob's data collection.

Firebase Services

The App uses multiple Firebase services:

Firebase Authentication

• Anonymous mode: Generates unique anonymous user ID (no personal information)
• Google Sign-In mode: Uses your Google account (name, email, profile photo) for authentication and cloud sync
• Required for Cloud Sync feature
• Your choice - guest or Google

Cloud Firestore (Cloud Sync)

• Stores your study progress and statistics
• Data is private to your anonymous account
• Enables progress sync across multiple devices
• Encrypted in transit and at rest

Firebase Analytics (All Users)

• Collects anonymous usage statistics (screens viewed, feature usage)
• Country-level location (not precise GPS)
• App version, device model, OS version
• Crash reports (anonymous, no personal data)

Firebase App Check (Security)

• Validates app authenticity using Google Play Integrity
• Prevents unauthorized access to Firebase services
• No personal data collected, only device attestation tokens

Permissions Required

The App requests the following Android permissions:

• INTERNET: Load advertisements (free version), sync data to Firebase cloud
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Detect internet connectivity for Firebase sync

The App does NOT request:

• Camera
• Microphone
• Contacts
• Phone/SMS
• Location (precise or coarse)
• External storage access
• Notifications (no push notifications)

Premium Purchase

Premium is available as a one-time purchase for $3.99 USD (lifetime access).

All purchases are processed through Google Play Store's In-App Billing system. Google handles all payment processing. The App does not see or store credit card information.

Premium purchase data:

• Purchase receipt stored locally on device
• Premium status verified via Google Play Billing Library
• Purchase history accessible in Google Play account
• No payment data (credit card, billing address) stored in the App
• Google shares purchase token (anonymous identifier) for verification only

Premium Features:

• All 700 NEC exam questions (free users: first 100 questions only)
• All 150 electrical flashcards (free users: first 30 only)
• Advanced NEC calculators (5 total: wire sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, box fill, branch circuit)
• Study by Category (8 NEC categories)
• Ad-free experience (removes banner ads and interstitials)
• Cloud sync (study progress backup across devices)

Data Security

• All local data is stored securely using Android's encrypted storage mechanisms
• Firebase data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
• The App uses HTTPS for all network requests (ads, Firebase, API calls)
• Code obfuscation (R8/ProGuard) prevents unauthorized access to app internals
• Firebase security rules protect your cloud data from unauthorized access

Children's Privacy

The App is designed for users age 18 and older (minimum age for electrical apprenticeship). The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, please use this App with parental supervision.

Content Attribution

All electrical exam questions used in the App are sourced from official materials published by:

• National Electrical Code (NEC) 2023 edition
• NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association)
• State electrical licensing boards
• NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research)

The App is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with NFPA, NCCER, or any state electrical licensing board.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access your data: View synced progress in Settings → Cloud Sync
• Delete cloud data: Settings → Data → Clear Cloud Data (removes from Firestore)
• Reset local progress: Settings → Data → Reset Progress (clears local data only)
• Stop syncing: Uninstall the app (cloud data auto-deleted after 90 days of inactivity)

To request complete data deletion: Email dev@corithmflowmatrix.com with your Firebase Anonymous User ID (found in Settings → About → User ID). Data will be deleted within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
