Real Estate License Prep 2026 ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our real estate licensing exam preparation application.

Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information, including but not limited to:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
User account information (no accounts required)
Usage analytics

Note: Device identifiers and study progress data are used ONLY if you choose to enable optional cloud sync (available to all users). See "What Data is Transmitted to Cloud" section below.

Information Stored Locally

The App stores the following data only on your device using Android's SharedPreferences and local database (SQLite):

Your selected U.S. state (CA, TX, FL, NY)
Questions you have answered
Mock exam results and scores
Bookmarked questions
Error reports you've submitted (stored locally until synced)
Karma points earned from error reporting
App settings (dark mode, theme preferences)
Premium purchase status (local unlock)
Exam date (if set)
Anonymous device ID (for cloud sync and leaderboards)

This local data:

Is stored in device-local SQLite database and SharedPreferences
Is deleted if you uninstall the app
Can optionally be synced to Firebase cloud (Premium only)

Third-Party Services

Google AdMob (Free Version Only)

The free version displays advertisements using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use:

Device advertising identifiers
IP address
Ad interaction data (clicks, impressions)
General device information (OS version, screen size)

Google Play In-App Purchases

Premium is available via one-time purchase:

Premium Unlock: $3.99 USD (one-time purchase)

All purchases are processed through Google Play Store's In-App Billing system. Google handles all payment processing. The App does not see or store credit card information.

Premium purchase data:

Purchase receipt stored locally on device
Premium status verified via Google Play Billing Library
Purchase history accessible in Google Play account
No payment data (credit card, billing address) stored in the App

Permissions Required

The App requests the following Android permissions:

INTERNET: Display ads (free version), verify premium purchases, sync to cloud (premium), access leaderboards
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Check internet connectivity for ads and cloud features
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Send exam reminder notifications (Android 13+)
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Schedule precise exam reminder notifications
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Restore scheduled notifications after device reboot

The App does NOT request:

Camera
Microphone
Contacts
Phone/SMS
Location
External storage access

Firebase Services & Data Collection

The App uses the following Firebase services:

Firebase Firestore: Cloud sync of study progress (optional, premium only)
Firebase Realtime Database: Leaderboards, error reporting, challenge mode
Firebase Authentication: Anonymous authentication for cloud features (no personal data required)
Firebase App Check: Security validation (prevents API abuse)

Data collected by Firebase:

Anonymous device IDs (auto-generated)
Study progress data (question IDs, scores, streak count)
Error reports (question ID, issue description, karma points)
Leaderboard rankings (anonymous ID, state, karma points)
No personally identifiable information (names, emails, phone numbers) is collected

Exam Reminder Notifications

The App sends local push notifications for exam reminders:

7 days before exam: "Exam in 7 Days! - Time to focus on review"
3 days before exam: "Exam in 3 Days! - Review weak topics"
1 day before exam: "Exam Tomorrow! - Get a good night's sleep"
Morning of exam: "Exam Day! - Good luck!"
Optional daily study reminders (default 7:00 PM)

Notification data:

Notifications are local (processed on your device only)
No notification data is transmitted to external servers
Exam date stored locally in app preferences
You can disable notifications in device Settings → Apps → Real Estate License Prep

Data Security

Local Storage: All study data stored in device-local SQLite database
Optional Cloud Sync (Premium Feature): Firebase Firestore used for progress backup and device synchronization
Firebase Services Used: Firestore (cloud sync), Realtime Database (leaderboards, error reports), Firebase Auth (anonymous authentication)
No Personally Identifiable Information: Cloud sync uses anonymous device IDs only - no names, emails, or personal data
AdMob Tracking (Free Version Only): Google AdMob may track ad interactions - governed by Google's privacy policy

What Data is Transmitted to Cloud (Premium Only)

If you use the optional Cloud Sync feature (Premium only), the following data is transmitted to Firebase:

Anonymous device ID (auto-generated)
Your selected state (CA, TX, FL, NY)
Question IDs you've answered (not the answers themselves)
Mock exam scores and statistics
Topic progress data (% completion per category)
Study streak count and last study date

Cloud sync data:

Is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud Platform)
Is encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
Is NOT shared with third parties
Can be deleted by uninstalling the app and clearing cloud data

Leaderboard & Social Features

If you participate in leaderboards or challenge features:

Your anonymous device ID is used to track leaderboard rankings

Free Version: Study data stays on YOUR device only. Google AdMob shows ads (has its own privacy policy and may track ad interactions). Leaderboards use anonymous device IDs.

Premium Version: Optional cloud sync via Firebase (anonymous device ID + study progress only - no personal data). Removes all ads. Leaderboards available for competitive features

Your karma points (earned from error reporting) are visible publicly

No personal information (email/location) is displayed

Leaderboard data is stored in Firebase Realtime Database and is publicly accessible within the app.

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for adults (18+) preparing for professional licensing exams. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

By default, ALL data stays on YOUR device only. Optional cloud sync via Firebase (available to ALL users) enables cross-device study progress, leaderboards, and social features.
