Overview

Homebrewing Lab ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our homebrewing recipe builder, calculator suite, fermentation log and tasting journal.

Data We Collect

Locally on your device only:

Beer recipes you create (name, style, batch size, grain bill, hop schedule, yeast, water profile, target OG/FG/ABV/IBU/SRM, notes)
Hydrometer / refractometer gravity readings and temperatures over time
Brew-day timer state and checklist completion
Tasting notes (appearance, aroma, flavor, mouthfeel, rating, cost-per-batch)
App preferences (theme, units)
Premium purchase status

No account is required. No email, sign-in, or personal identifier is collected by us. All recipe and fermentation data is stored on your device only.

Permissions We Request

Internet: Required to (a) display ads on the free tier and (b) verify Google Play in-app purchases.
Notifications: Required to deliver brew-day timer alerts and reminders you schedule.
Schedule exact alarms: Required so brew-day hop addition alarms fire at the exact time you set.

Third-Party Services

Google AdMob: Displays banner, interstitial and app-open ads to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device advertising identifiers and general usage data for ad personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy. Upgrading to Pro removes all ads.
Google Play Billing: Processes the one-time Pro upgrade. We receive only confirmation that a purchase was completed — never credit card details, billing address, or Google account information.
Google Play Integrity API (Firebase App Check): Verifies that the app installation is genuine to protect purchases against fraud. No personal data is collected; the API returns only a binary integrity verdict.

Data Storage

All recipes, gravity readings, tasting notes, timer state and preferences are stored locally on your device only using SQLite. We do not have access to your data and there is no cloud sync.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, trade or transmit your personal data to any third party. The only data leaving your device is:

Ad interaction data (Google AdMob, free-tier users only)
Purchase verification (Google Play Billing)
Anonymous integrity checks (Google Play Integrity)

Children's Privacy

Homebrewing Lab is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.

Your Rights

You can delete all app data at any time by:

Deleting individual recipes (cascades to all related gravity readings and tasting notes) from the Recipes screen
Uninstalling the app (removes all local data)

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
