Privacy Policy for Pantry & Food Expiry Tracker

Overview

Pantry & Food Expiry Tracker ("the App") helps you track the food in your pantry, fridge and freezer, its expiry dates and your food waste. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. The App is offline-first and does not require an account.

Data We Store (On Your Device Only)

Item details you enter: name, barcode number, category, location, quantity, unit, expiry / best-before dates, sealed/opened state, freezer date, notes and approximate value
Your waste-and-saved log
Custom locations and categories
Local backups you create
App preferences (theme, currency symbol, reminder and sorting settings)
Premium purchase status

No account, email or sign-in is required. This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to us.

Camera (Barcode Scanning)

The camera is used only when you choose to scan a product barcode. Camera frames are processed on your device to read the barcode number. Images are not stored and not transmitted anywhere.

Microphone (Optional Voice Add)

If you use the optional "Voice add" button, your device's speech-recognition service is used to convert speech to the item name you dictate. The App does not store or upload audio recordings.

Open Food Facts (Optional Barcode Lookup)

When you scan a barcode and are online, the App may send the barcode number only to the free Open Food Facts service (openfoodfacts.org) to look up a product name. No personal information is sent. This lookup is optional and the App works fully offline without it. See the Open Food Facts privacy policy.

Google AdMob (Free Tier Only)

Free users see ads served by Google AdMob, which may collect a device advertising ID and general usage data for ad delivery. Upgrading to Pro removes all ads. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Google Play Integrity

The App uses the Google Play Integrity API to help protect in-app purchases from fraud. Google may receive device and app integrity signals for this check. Google Firebase is initialized only to enable this feature; the App does not use Firebase Analytics.

In-App Purchases

The one-time Pro upgrade is processed by Google Play. We receive only confirmation that a purchase completed. We do NOT receive your payment details, billing address or Google account information.

Local Notifications

Expiry reminders are generated and shown locally on your device. No notification data leaves your device.

Data Sharing

We do NOT sell or trade your data. Limited data is shared only with the services described above (Google AdMob, Google Play, Google Play Integrity, and Open Food Facts for barcode lookup), or where required by law.

Data Retention & Deletion

All of your data is stored locally. You can remove items and clear your log inside the App, or clear the App's data / uninstall to delete everything. See our Delete My Data page.

Age

This App is intended for users aged 18 or older, or younger users with a parent or guardian's consent. It is not directed at children.
