Privacy Policy for Calm: Mood & Meditation

Overview

Calm: Mood & Meditation ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. The App is a personal mood journal with breathing exercises, a meditation timer, gratitude prompts and self-care tools. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

Data We Collect

Stored locally on your device only:

Mood check-ins (mood rating, feelings, activities, triggers, notes, optional sleep hours)
Optional photos you attach to a check-in
Gratitude journal entries
Thought records (CBT worksheets)
Breathing and meditation session history
Self-care checklist progress and custom tags
Reminder time, app preferences (theme, language, text size)
An optional app-lock PIN (stored only as a one-way hash) and premium purchase status

No personal information is required — no account, no email, no sign-in. The App works fully offline; all sounds and content are bundled in the App.

Google AdMob (Free Tier Only)

Free users see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a device advertising ID and general usage data to serve and measure ads. Upgrading to Pro removes all ads permanently. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Google Play Integrity

The App uses Google Play Integrity to help confirm it is running on a genuine Android device and was installed from Google Play. This helps protect in-app purchases. No personal data is collected by this check.

In-App Purchases

The one-time Pro upgrade is processed by Google Play. We receive only confirmation that a purchase completed. We do NOT receive your payment details, billing address, or Google account information.

Notifications

If you enable the daily check-in reminder, the App schedules a local notification on your device. It is generated on-device and is not sent to any server.

Photos

If you attach a photo to a mood check-in, it is copied into the App's private storage on your device. Photos never leave your device and are not uploaded anywhere.

Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties, except Google (AdMob, Play Billing, Play Integrity) as described above, or when required by law.

Data Retention

All your data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App, or using "Delete all data" in Settings, removes it. See our Delete My Data page for details.

Calm supports everyday wellbeing and self-reflection. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or mental-health care, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis helpline right away (for example, 988 in the US, 111/999 in the UK, or 13 11 14 Lifeline in Australia).

Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old (or have a parent or guardian's consent) to use the App. The App is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
